Schizoaffective Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder

Postby selena123 » Sat Jan 28, 2017 8:34 pm

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the forum and I was just wondering does anyone else have a diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder as well as a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder? I have been diagnosed with both and I'm confused

Thanks in advance

What Borderline Means........

Postby ginalovea » Tue Mar 07, 2017 2:18 am

I was once diagnosed with both Schizoaffective bipolar and Borderline personality disorder. I remained in this condition for many years. The reason why I had the diagnosis of Borderline is because I was extremely suicidal and I kept making suicidal threats and gestures, ending up in the psych ward each time. It kept happening over and over. I was in and out of the mental hospital like a revolving door all because of suicidal ideations and threats. I even attempted suicide twice. I was not a cutter. I was a suicidal threat maker. (Although being a cutter will get you this diagnosis too.) This is why the Dr.'s labeled me as Borderline personality disorder. Now, I no longer carry this label. I only carry the label of Schizoaffective bipolar now. That is because I have not had any suicidal thoughts, or threats or gestures since the year 2004. My mood is now steadily even and content, under the influence of the antidepressant Celexa 20 mg every day, and has been for many years. Even though my 30 year old son committed suicide five and a half years ago, my mood has mostly remained constantly even. So, the diagnosis of Borderline personality vanished. :)
