Can you give me examples? I am confused.
Remorse : Action. You killed your best friend. You feel remorse for the killing, how you killed him, how you treated the body, where you put the body. Most people would feel remorse for what they did, not how it made them feel ( how it made you feel would be guilt ) This is remorse, feeling horrible for the ACTION ( killing ) you committed.
Guilt : You. I made your brother a birthday cake, you took it out of the fridge and cut it up and ate some. You were caught and felt guilty for what you did. You didn't feel guilt for the the action ( eating the cake ) you felt guilt for hurting the person who the cake was made for. Guilt is something you feel for yourself. Remorse is something you feel for the action done to another.
guilt is how you feel about yourself ( making a judgement towards the self ) remorse is how you feel about the action or harm towards the object or circumstance. ( remorse usually makes you want to make right what you did wrong.)
If you are constantly hurting others by your actions, you will feel a lot of remorse throughout your life. Guilt is more of a self emotion or strong judgement about yourself, remorse is more about taking responsibility and hating yourself for actions you took to hurt another.
