Using Pedophilia in this sense is just incorrect anyway. I get what you're aiming at but it adds stigma to it that shouldn't be there. She isn't a prepubescent girl. In the UK and many other places she is even of legal age of consent.
I'm British (though she was American) but 16 and 17-year-olds are still legally defined as children across the board here... just children who can join the army and adults are allowed to have sex with - it's pretty weird.
I agree that I don't really see a problem with 17/19 (same age as my parents when they got together as it happens) but it's still worth treading carefully. You do a lot of growing up around that time and the fact is that those over 18 simply have a lot more legal rights (and thus autonomy/ power) than those under that age.
Plus, if you end up together, you simply have to deal daily with the cognitive dissonance that you had sex with a child, legally or otherwise - I can't think of many situations where it's worth the fall-out tbh.
P.S. The 4chan poster (while quite possibly trolling) has a point - since as soon as you send a sexual txt or arrange to meet up w/ any kind of sexual interest or aim via the internet or exchange sexualised photos, you've crossed a serious legal line. If you end up in a relationship with someone who is 16 or 17 in a place where that's the age of consent I'd suggest it's kind of awkward to adhere to all that in this day and age. So, especially in the case with a potentially over-protective father, very much best to stay away from the whole situation.
P.P.S. Plus - and probably most importantly - she doesn't seem to be interested and has a boyfriend!
