Looking for diagnosis help

Postby griffon6 » Fri Dec 16, 2005 5:47 pm

I have experienced a few people with similar symptoms, I guess. Some are more accellerated, but the result is the same. I am trying to identify if there is a diagnosis pertaining to these characteristics.

The characteristics are:
1. Person A meets someone and likes them immediately maybe infatuation, could be male/female a work relationship, a personal relationship or just a friendship.

2. The relationship/friendship is accellerated to a close relationship/friendship faster than normal.

3. Person A forces the issue of the relationship/freindship assuming the other person thinks the same.

4. Person A slowly (years) or quickly (months) begins questioning the other persons' personality, habits and starts to try and control the aspects of the other person's life or daily activities.

5. When Person A's suggestions or views are not adopted by the other person, Person A becomes angry and insulted.

6. Eventually in all cases Person A develops an extreme dislike for the other person and wants to fire them (work situation), leave them (relationship), or tell them they are not their friend anymore (freindship).

That is a quick description, sorry if it is not very professional.
I have started looking at different diagnosis listings and have not narrowed it down to any one or two yet.

Thank you for any help!!

Person A sounds like a control freak with abusive tendencies to me. But that's not a professional diagnosis by far. I have met such people too, but the one's I knew were definately abusive and just wanted to control everything about the other person, know everything about them and use it against them somehow.
Could be some kind of personality disorder but I don't know any of the names of them.

Hi Devanna!

Thank you and you brought up another good point when they try to use all the information against you eventually. I will keep looking through the definitions/diagnosis listings to see if I can pinpoint a treatment/solution.
