How much can you say is ADD?

Ok, I have been with someone for 7 years now, and after nearly divorcing him, he finaly got help and was diagnosed with ADD. But he takes meds now and has not much therapy. He has lied, cheated, stole and has terrible impulse control. I want to know how much can he blame on ADD. The worst was the verbal abuse but that has almost completly stoped. Any one can help?
