texting and frienships

Postby tracey69 » Sun Sep 11, 2011 9:02 am

Is there really any way to discuss how I feel about him constantly texting or phoning someone in my presence when I'm alone with him. Weird thing is whenever we are together, going out on "dates" or just hanging out, we barely talk to each other. "Forced conversations" sound soooooo fake so I avoid questions to get to know him better. Sometimes, I just want to tell him "why are you wasting your time being with me barely saying a word, yet constantly texting or phoning your family andfriends"

Welcome tracey69,

What if we turn your question around to ask yourself the same thing: Why are you wasting your time with him when he barely says a word and constantly texts or phones his family and friends? Do you otherwise enjoy his company?

If his behaviour bothers you, I think you should tell him. You could try explaining how it makes you feel - that you wonder whether he really wants to spend time with you. Next time he acts that way on a date, I'd be tempted to say something like 'Oh I didn't realise you'd be so busy today. We can catch-up another day instead', and get up to leave. Then see how he responds.
No diagnosis, lots of opinions, and a bunch of issues that I haven't quite figured out.
