BF obsessed with smells

I have been dating this guy for a few months and he has told me that he is bothered by the smell of my breath. He says smell is something that can really bother him. Now it's not like I don't brush my teeth or anything but he thinks it may be what I am eating. Basically he said he wants to figure it out so he can "fix it" as he likes me. This has made me upset as it feels like he is saying "if we can't fix this this is over" He has said to me "you know how important smell is to me"
Is this normal or is this about control..or...or...
I've never had anyone say this to me before...

I think yer new man sounds like a C*nt. He wants a perfect little nymph. Come on! If he's so bothered about smell, then he should be considering splitting up with his own arse, cause I'm sure it doesn't smell very pleasureable!
He's overreacting. Tell him to grow up, cause nobody's breath smell like daisies. Expecially not HIS!
