LOVE?

Postby Onebravegirl » Fri Oct 15, 2010 12:11 am

What is it to you?
Is there such a thing as one true love?
How do you keep love?
How would you best be loved?
The film and media are full of fantasies of what love Should be, but what has it really been for you?

I look forward to reading responses to this thread.
I'm too tired right now to form any coherant thoughts, so I'll stick with one of my favorite quotes on the subject:

"Love is patient. Love is kind. It is never jealous, it is never boastful or conceited, it is never rude or selfish, it does not take offense, nor is it resentful. Love takes no pleasure in others’ sins but delights in the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes. Love does not come to an end. There are three things that last, faith, hope and love and the greatest of these is love."

Ah, yes! This is love. Man defines love by carnal emotions, "the butterflies in your stomach". Ultimately, love is selfless. It seeks not for itself. Keep your love and truth close, One.

-Senza-
Hold these thoughts of you close and never forget
In the darkness nothing is clear
Far away, yet in my heart you're near
Let each scar vanish...and believe...forever

A poem I heard from a good friend of mine:
Love is human nature
Without love we drown in a lake of loneliness
Love is the floaties that keep us afloat
And romance is the big metal sailboat
Love is true, love is real, love is lost
Love and feel
Love

Made by Emily
She got it published last week!

Having only experienced strong platonic and familial love (I prefer to limit social contact in reality) I deny all claims that it doesn't exist.

Love is not flawless, and like a garden (and definitely more so than other relationships) it is difficult to maintain. Nurture it, and it will bring you happiness and hope in the darkest moments of life. Neglect it, and the dark times will become more overpowering and painful.
Love grants people strength like no other. The ability to overlook and overcome flaws and weaknesses that you could not overcome alone. It is one of humanity's few good qualities. It's also one of the only things that keeps me alive. Without my family to cry for me, I would have killed myself long ago.

I think of true love as unconditional, and it's not something that can always be found. Certainly not something romantic.

I hope to experience romantic love one day, though...
You don't have to be crazy, but it helps

I can't define it, but I've known it when I've felt it. And there are few greater pains than it's demise.

Love is patient. There are three things that last, faith, hope and love and the greatest of these is love.

IMO, the above is an ideal to strive for, which few of us are equipped to attain. It would and maybe has helped to pave the road to perdition by those who've saught to live by this definition, only to have the recipient, at best, not return the sentiment in kind.
Am I avoidant or are you repulsive?
