Write a letter to your mother or father. In it, open your heart to them and tell them that you need help in getting to where you want to be. Don't ever just sit there and let people tell you who you are, okay?

I was actually in England the past few days, which is why I did not reply.

If you cant get your parents to understand and help you, you will need to accept that, but for now, try to get them to help you, but if it doesn't work, maybe consider looking outside your family for help.

Can i ask why you are interested in the goth culture?

In that case I would not try to have goth friends and such, if you like dressing that way then fair enough, and if you meet people you like because of that then great. But I am very into metal and so have been around gothic and metal culture a lot in my life, and with both, but especially goth, it is a very negative lifestyle, if you were already into it i wouldn't try and talk you out of it, but to try and actively seek it out would be a bad idea, if you were to meet legit goths (and no just the ones who pretend they are) you would find a lot of negativity involved with it, not just in the emotional side but also with drinking/drugs/body modification....you will also find a lot of people giving you crap for trying to turn goth, and it would stand out pretty well.

Just be yourself, dont go actively seeking out a culture.

Not to accuse anyone of anything, but I have seen trolls in my time using the internets that do this sort of thing...they act extremely, ah, 'lost' or confused and accuse anyone who tries to point them in the right direction of attacking them. And on a forum like this, most people would not want to be 'attacking' each other, would they? By the way, I would appreciate it if nobody 'attacked' me for pointing that out, heh..

Anyway, I have some 'goth' friends, and they're no different than my 'normal' friends except maybe that they write a lot more bad poetry. Focusing on the appearance of the person and not the person themselves is why we end up with things like the KKK, the ACLU, and Spongebob Squarepants (what..?).

I wear black most of the time and I like how it looks too. Heh. But like that guy somewhere up there said, Goth is a state of mind. I don't really know what that state of mind is, because I don't have it, but the point stands...heh.

Whatever...I hope your situation gets worked out, NB4C.

@Jonathan: Metal ftw. 8)

Eh..

hollow man, nightmareb4christmas has been a member here for a long time but I don't suspect that she's a troll. There's nothing wrong with you suggesting that she is though (you aren't the first to suggest as such!). I think some people just struggle to write long posts. In my opinion, the shorter the post the better, as some people have a tendency to ramble a bit and it's hard to extract the useful info.

Totally by chance, heh. I'm into metal and nihilism and all that so I tend to run into a lot of people you could call Gothic. :)
