I've recently become aware that I feel like still in love with a girl I went to college with 30 years ago, it's as if it was just yesterday. I was too shy to ask her out then and I lost my chance as the last time I saw her she was about to be married. I've had severe depression since then, is it possible that this could have been the cause? Perhaps I never gave up on the idea that we could have been together. I'm married now and really just want to be happy but it's as if something is stopping me. I hope this is the right spot to write this. I'm having a hard time and just need to write it

Hello Jeremy,
Long-term depression can be caused by anything. I'm not sure it would be the single thing that made depression last or inhibited one from having a happy life, especially how long ago it was and how nothing really happened between you two, after.
Have you thought about hashing it out with a therapist? They are good at digging through things and asking the right questions.
