Isolation

Postby MayRains » Sun May 05, 2019 7:48 pm

Hello. Thanks in advance for any replies. I used to post on these forums many years ago and just decided to give it another go.
I am a male in my early thirties. I suffer from mental illness as well as physical health problems. I'm currently living in an assisted living facility where I am the youngest resident. I take a lot of different meds for my mental health as well as medical problems. About three years ago I moved many miles away from my home town, to the state where I reside currently. Since leaving my home town I have moved around trying to find a good living situation in my new area, and finally settled on this ALF. The ALF is helpful for me managing daily living but kind of rough too seeing as I have to share a bedroom with another random guy. Having a romantic relationship with a woman seems unlikely in this situation. On top of my health problems, I struggle with loneliness and isolation. Honestly I have not had sex in seven years. Just wondering if you guys have any thoughts on this whole thing, like is there hope for me? Thanks

given the brevity of facts here, it's difficult to give anything more than a very general response. i think you need to consider what steps you're trying to take to improve your situation. if the answer to that is none, it's unlikely anything will change. also, perhaps what you're hoping for isn't what would actually help you most. perhaps you need to be more flexible in where you place your hope. of all the things you want in life, what is it that you might be able to achieve. small achievements can be a major incentive to try to aim higher. so, no, your situation isn't hopeless. but it is up to you to try to be realistic about your hopes and turn them into reality.
