How to overcome insecurities?

Postby qqsszz » Wed Nov 15, 2017 1:41 am

Recently I've discoreved I am a socially insecure person. To explain I'll give two examples of this:
My sister was in the next room with her boyfriend and a friend. My phone was in that same room and I didn't want to go for it.
One day I was with two friends. I said goodbye to them and at the moment I turned around I began thinking about whay they could be saying about me (I didn't hear anything).
The first one is more frecuent, the fear of approch someone and say hi is very common.
I belive this issues comes from HS. I remember one day I tried to talk to (at that moment) two friends, when they saw me they stoped talking and look at each other, I really felt rejected. There are more but it is not important
Thanks in advanced

Fear not! Social insecurities are commonplace. I have Dyspraxia which makes me socially awkward at the best of times. I clam up if I realise I need to go into a room of people I do not know well and I usually wait until they've left.

Perhaps try gradually exposing yourself to increasingly unsettling social situations to find what causes your concerns. Worries over friendships and whether you are liked are commonplace, the best advice I can give you is to be yourself. Those who really like you will be friends with you when you are being yourself.

If any of these social problems become invasive - say - preventing you from interacting with people, going outside, going to events or occasions or maintaining friendships then seek advice from a professional. But if they aren't, then know you aren't alone!
