Will finding myself a girlfriend help ?

Postby someguy1 » Sat Jul 12, 2014 6:29 am

I have been wondering if being in a relationship with a female would be something that would help lift my anxiety and other problems.

I don't know your situation, but generally when people try to fill in the missing pieces in themselves with someone or something else it both fails to fill the void and puts a burden on the external source that makes it less healthy than it could be.

Hi someguy1,

Maybe if you wrote about more details we could respond better.

Ashlar is correct too... other people can't fill the missing pieces, but it's normal to want someone else to care about you (and to care about).

Hello,
I can certainly see your position. Anxiety is very hard to deal with I know this because my daughter has a serious case of anxiety as well OCD. Me dealing with my bpd and bp it is highly hard. I have found that finding something to do is the best help. For a long time I had no idea what I wanted to do, who was I? what did I want in life? I was taking classes in college and one was a extracurricular class, it was art. I never thought that I had a gift. The more I painted the more I knew myself, and I buried all my pain, happiness, sadness and mostly loneliness into my paintings. I soon found out that I really didnt need anyone. Yes I do get lonely, there are days where I wonder if I have been cursed. But finding something to do has helped. Maybe finding a new hobby, youll be able to share with that one special person.

You know, I asked that same question for years. I felt that, "If only I had a girlfriend I would feel better about myself." To tell the truth, it was my own demons I needed to fight.

How we feel we are in complete control of. If we are not happy, that does not attract others, in fact it repels them. The trick is to always think positive! Whenever a negative emotion or thought enters your mind, immediately switch it to the opposite positive one. There is a great book you should read called, What to Say When you Talk to Yourself by Shad Helmstetter. It changed my life forever. In it Helmstetter teaches you everything you need to destroy depression, anxiety, and all of your other problems.

You will learn that negative emotions are our own doing and we have the power to destroy them. You will be happier than you ever have been in your life! The chapters are short but packed with incredible information. He gives you tips on how to reprogram your negative thoughts into positive ones and how to live an overall beautiful life.

It's very inexpensive and will be the greatest book you will ever read! Trust me, go get it!
