Relationship question (new to this forum so excuse me)?

why is it in relationships the person who needs the other the least, is always the one in power?

Probably because the one who is not as needy of the other has more to hold over the other. If you need someone you are going to be more likely to do more to make that person happy. Thus giving them more power and it can be hard not to exploit that power once given it.
