I can relate as another male. We definitely are far more likely to grow up hearing messages like 'be a man', 'suck-it-up', 'don't be a cry baby', etc. Hiding what we feel doesn't mean we don't feel, but then men can feel bad about themselves for feeling (see those previous messages, we may learn that feeling means we are weak, not men, etc), so I suppose some 'make' themselves get over how they feel more quickly.

These answers have given me a lot to think about but it seems like you might all be talking about proper relationships/break ups. And it is good to hear your stories.
Have any of you ever found it hard to move on from a casual partner though? Or were you just in those situations for sex without ever developing feelings?

rubytuesday -

I haven't tried the casual partner thing in a long time. I know myself well enough to know I'd get emotionally involved and feel hurt if ended abruptly as it did for you.
