Assaulted a few nights ago.

Postby Cosmiclonewolf » Wed Apr 20, 2022 7:23 am

So, I just moved to a new city a couple weeks ago and decided to go out for a drink. Everything was fine as I spent most of the evening talking to a nice Australian couple who was visiting. Later in the night a girl entered the bar and sat next to me and began to flirt with me. We began a conversation as the couple was leaving and she wound up inviting me to a club next door. I ordered a beer and she asked me to dance with her. I left my drink alone and when we were done we went back to the table.

That was the last thing I remember. I woke up in the middle of nowhere, covered in bruises, everything including my sandals was gone. I was also covered in ejaculate. It took me hours to walk home barefoot.

Initially, I assumed I must have blacked out drinking but it didn't make sense considering I hadn't drank much and I know my tolerance very well. It hadn't occurred to me that I had been drugged but I'm completely certain now that that's what happened. A friend told me I should go to a clinic and get tested. Another friend told me I'm probably fine and that it sounded more like a hate crime than rape. I plan on going anyway but is there any danger in not doing this immediately? I'm largely unfamiliar with std's and I've been busy scrambling to replace everything that was lost.

I feel conflicted about what happened.. I feel like it was my fault for not picking up on what was going on. Should I file a police report? I did report my missing stuff but didn't mention anything else. I think the odds of catching these people is nearly impossible with the circumstances. I'm also just kindof writing this to vent. Thank you for reading.

I would report.

And get tested yes.

It's like this- you weren't 'there' to know what all was done, so being tested is a good idea. I don't know that being tested immediately is necessary- or even effective- it might take time for some things to show up in bloodwork. Immediacy would have been handy, however, in collecting evidence... the police might have been able to score some DNA. Still, that's not to blame you for your response- I'm not so sure I would have been thinking that far ahead if I'd woke up drugged and banged up.

Still, even so I'd consider making a report. And trying to describe the girl as much as possible. If they did it to you, they're doing it to others. Heck, if they're smart enough (and ultimately I don't think of criminals of being generally smart) how do we even know how much of this was sexual? I'm assuming you're a guy- but either way maybe they're banking on shame to keep their victims from making a police report? For me, the socially responsible thing to do would make a report- I've always made reports even for little things because that helps to establish a pattern of criminal behavior in an area. At least that's what I told the cop when he correctly told me my car battery was gone forever- that wasn't the point of my report... my point is the eventual hope of revenge by someone getting caught.

So yes from me I'd suggest making a report and also asking when the best time is to start getting tested. Probably have to remain getting tested for a while until the time is up for different pathogens to show up in the blood in detectable levels. Just to be on the safe side, and you certainly wouldn't want to inadvertently give someone something in the future- I think Hep C can be asymptomatic for even longer than HIV.

Anyway that's my two cents. No one comes to these forums because they found a solid gold unicorn and want to share their happiness, but daggone if you ain't had a particularly rough time of it- welcome to the forums in any case.
