Election pains anyone?

Postby Jen123 » Sun Nov 13, 2016 7:40 am

Hi all,

I wanted to share my feelings about the election. I feel that the country decided to ok sexual assault and rape of women with this election. I'm so distraught I can hardly function. I stepped out for the first time tonight only to run into Trump supports (white men) who made fun of me when I tried to explain that it's not right to elect a sexist that jokes about sexual assault into the presidency. Their cruelty by making fun of my pain is a stark reminder to me of the position that women have in this country. We may sometimes enjoy the illusion of some small amount of power, but in actuality we have none. This whole thing makes me so upset, it's really hard to cope with. Suicide has crept into my thoughts more than once. I just don't think that I can ever forgive men for this injustice. I hope you all are faring well and taking care of yourselves.

A good friend of mine told her story publicly after the election about an incident like that. She is incredibly hurt that Trump is normalized and rationalized by people regarding all this. That's not my first-hand account, but there definitely are other people that feel how you do about this.

I'm with you guys. I was in treatment for bulimia while the election was going on. I was eating at 100%, and after the election, I didn't eat for over 48 hours, and I'm still eating maybe once a day since then. I had just stared talking about a rape that had happened a bit over a year ago, and that combined with the election really messed me up. I hope you guys are doing a bit better now, this is going to be a rough four years for sure  The election was really devastating for a lot of people I know, and the sexual assault survivors I know have been seriously impacted.
Bring disco back!
