Therapy?

Is it really necessary?

My life is affected by this but it is not uncontrollable. I have moments where I behave recklessly but thus far I haven't done any serious damage to anyone else's property (though my own computer and desk are quite blackened :oops: ) I don't think that therapy would be a terrible idea but I don't want to go because I am afraid that they will ask to me to quit burning things altogether rather than showing me ways on how to control the impulsive aspect of my problem.

I refuse to quit setting things on fire. While it may be unusual I do not think it is altogether unhealthy. It helps me release negative emotions and makes me happy. If I could learn ways to control the impulse than I don't see anything wrong with it.

Do you think a therapist would see my side and assist me as I need?
Is the impulsiveness going to get worse over time if I don't start trying to learn to better cope with it now?

Look at your avatar? If you can remove or change that right now, then I think that you'll have taken a first step to bettering yourself. Can you do that, firstly?... ...

I could remove the icon if I really wanted but I don't see the need. As I said before I'm not trying to ignore my fixation... just manage it a little better.

Good... ...but how are you managing it? Have you caused much damage through fire?
