Sleep Paralysis Story

Postby Ghost147 » Mon Feb 03, 2014 4:22 am

For those of you that don't know, Sleep Paralysis is when an individual is "half asleep and half conscious". It almost always occurs when the individual experiencing it is just about to wake up. They are usually quite scary, traumatic and also extremely vivid. Some people may even say it is a Paranormal Experience.

There is also a condition in which a person may experience this event many times, sometimes every time they go to sleep. This is my first and only experience so far, and I'd like to share it with you!

I don't find sleep paralysis paranormal what so ever. It seems like a very natural (albeit rarer) neurological "hiccup". I have had the fortunate luck of experiencing it once. Very interesting occurrence!

In mine, I was sleeping on my back on the bed, which is a position I almost never sleep in; but for some reason I felt it was comfortable that night. Just before I awoke, my eyes were open (literally), but I was still "dreaming".

My fiance was sleeping next to me, and I could see her with my peripheral vision. I was really seeing what I was seeing, as my eyes were open, but my brain was still "asleep", and was producing dream like images as well, over top of what I was seeing in reality.

I saw a dark figure rise up from the end of the bed (where my feet were). It slowly came up, black, drenched hair over a female body (think the exact depiction of The Ring girl, but more like 18-20 years old, and still petite). I couldn't make out a face at all, as the hair was over her face. Knotted and wet, as if she just came from rotting in some kind of bog. I tried to grab my fiance, as it was so vivid that I thought it was real, but I couldn't move, and felt helpless. I was so paralyzed that I couldn't even move my eyes, so I was stuck staring at this creature, who was staring at me, breathing, but not moving. I had to use my peripheral vision for everything.

My daughter, 16 years old, came up the stairs and into the washroom. Remember, though, the room was what I was seeing in reality, everything else was still the dream.

I attempted to scream out her name, so she could run away for her safety, as this creature seemed very dark and dangerous. So my daughter closed the bathroom door, and didn't hear me (because I was paralyzed and couldn't even groan).

That very instant is when I realized, "I'm dreaming!"

I don't have a daughter! (I'm 24). Once I came to that realization, I instantly became totally conscious. The creature was gone, and I felt quite relieved.

So that's my story! What did you think? Have you ever heard of this type of dream before? OR, have you ever experienced it?

in malay its called 'tindih hantu' which literally mean 'pinned down by a ghost'.. and no.. i don't associate it to anything paranormal either..

i experienced sleep paralysis during my college years.. ya know the usual deal.. the signs that it's happening starting with the distant ringing in the ears getting closer and louder.. starts panicking when relating the childhood stories of people seeing horrendous creatures..

though i'd never saw anything other than the ceiling fan.. it was frightening.. i tried pulling over the blanket.. changing position to lay on my side in a matrix-like bullet time  .. and yeah screaming too.. and while i thought i did.. i'd soon realised that i'm in the same position i was before.. it's like someone pushed a reset button.. and i have to try pulling the blanket all over again..

never had anything similar since.. although sometimes i can feel like its coming with the ringing in the ears.. i actually had some sort of a rush anticipating whats gonna happen next.. but nothing like the ones i experienced before.. although i came close to what i believed is lucid dreaming.. its a different thing altogether.. because in lucid dreaming its the opposite.. you do not want to move any muscle.. even a slight muscle jolt will reset you to full conciousness..

Hmmm. Your forum name is ghost and you don't believe in the paranormal? And you know of "The Ring"? How involved in the occult have you been in your life? Every used an Ouija board or been in seances or anything like that? I come from the supernatural perspective and I would say there is a supernatural component to your "dream" and paralysis. The anti-supernaturalists will object and say there is nothing supernatural happening in these kind of events, but I don't buy their theories. I've had one paralysis event like you mention and it was during a time I was having an affair with a witch. I know I can't convince anyone that the supernatural exists but if you believe the Bible it does. It's anyone's choice to believe whether they believe that there are supernatural/paranormal events or not. I know there is, but I certainly can't convince anyone of that.

Hahaha. Confusing, I know. It's actually a reference to the idea of a Ghost. Shadow in the dark and all that. A mist that passes through you. It was actually a gaming alias I had way back in 2002.

Virtually not at all. I find it all very interesting, however, I haven't looked in to it deeply what so ever.

I have wanted to use a Ouija board for as long as I knew they existed. However, I haven;t had the chance to. And when i do get the chance, I rather it be one that appears more ligitimate (aged and all) rather than a cheap one you could get at a store.

I don't know what a "seances" is. could you elaborate?

Well, I'm an atheist. So the Bible isn't really a good way to prove anything, in my perspective at least. However, my fiance is an Atheist too, and she fully believes almost all paranormal events, creatures and so forth. So a belief in the Paranormal does not negate an acceptance of the Bible.

I can definitely see how one could relate my experience (or similar experiences) to paranormal events. Although, I personally dont see the need for it if an individual could experience sleep paralysis with a less "dark" tone to it, and there for less of an inclination for a paranormal explanation. If they can do that, then why would this be any different from an otherwise normal biological experience?

me: I have come up with a theory, based on life experience, that "interest", or "fascination" with the occult can sometimes open one up to the demonic realm. I think the possessed witch I knew had some good information when once I asked her if the devil existed. She said, "if you look for him".

me: I tried it once as a youngster in grade school and even being young I knew that the answers me and my little friend doing it with me received were not from either of us. I've heard a lot of stories concerning the Ouija board over the years. One girl told me that she was using the Ouija board in grade school with another little girl and one answer they got was "you will be f**ked in the broom closet". And they had to ask the teacher what the F word meant, LOL! Another guy said he did it with some guys while in the military on a home made card table and planchet (I think that's what the device is called). Well, they left the room and he came back and the planchet was moving around on the table by itself! He later went and burned it. Actually I think the Ouija board is the best way to encounter the demonic possible nowadays. And I think a store bought Parker Brothers board is as good as a hand made or antique one to achieve it's purpose.

me: What's interesting is that a person who believes in the supernatural, even if it's not tied to religion, will have a good understanding of Christianity if they ever find the Lord. At least they think there is more to life than meets the eye, which is needed to seek and find the Lord. I've known may people who were in to the occult who later found Christ, and are very strong Christians.

me: Well, many people are going to explain it away as a physiological experience. They are almost always the same people who don't believe in anything supernatural, and don't believe in God. The real argument is whether the supernatural exists, whether God exists. For without belief in the supernatural you can't believe in God.

Thanks for the reply, BTW, it's been a pleasure talking to you!

I experienced sleep paralysis once, while lying next to my boyfriend. Mildly scarred for life. ._. I would absolutely hate to experience the fear of being totally alone when it happens.
So allein will ich nicht sein
Ich such dich unter jedem Stein
Ich schlaf mit einem Messer ein
Wo bist du? Wo bist du?

scientific explanation and I am not a christian but how do you explain it? baffling. regards James

You get used to it on the forth or fifth time, somewhat, but it's more like a "I've surrendered to death"- attitude. On my twentieth time or something I had a dream (within a dream, ugh) that the house came down and I was buried alive under the rubble, and I was like "*sigh* ok, go back to sleep." Before that it always about being murdered, stabbed, beheaded, etc.
