I wouldn't have believed it was possible for a human to go without sleep long-term. I used to sleep normally but could never sleep in a hospital. After I complained and said I wanted to go home so I could sleep, upon discharge the doctor said he was going to prescribe sleeping pills, which I adamantly refused. So he prescribed zolpidem 10 mg daily and lied about what it was. I took it for a year and 3 months until the pharmacist told me what it was. I refused to renew and quit. I checked online and read the advice from sleep specialists to quit immediately but do it by tapering off. I tried tapering off but I could never fall asleep knowing I had taken a sleeping pill. So now I haven't slept in 3 years, which I would have thought was impossible. Instead of sleeping, I lie in bed 15 hours a day with eyes closed and covered, 2 or 3 hours at a time.
My question: "Is there any chance I'll ever recover and sleep normally again?" I have an extremely healthful diet and work out with dumbbells.
