I now know why I've been feeling so edgy and suffer from panic attacks..
I was stabbed 4 weeks ago, and never been right since
Can anyone help me with ways to over come my fears?
A lot of people don't realize that depression is an illness. I don't wish it on anyone, but if they would know how it feels, I swear they would think twice before they just shrug it.

Heya,
To ge through PTSD, it is very constructive to talk about the event [causing the PTSD] in a safe environmen. A 'safe environment' can include a counssellor or psychologist's office (or, indeed, psychiatrist or therapist), or simply the presence of a good friend in whom you have a lot of trust.
Being stabbed is something that I have never experienced (and certainly wish to never experience), but my first thoughts are: 1) I hope that the assailant has been punished; and 2) I hope that you do indeed have people around you in whom you can confide and talk openly to. The ultimate thing to remember in relation to getting through this is to be open to talk about the event. Don't avoid it... I know that it is painful, but talking will make the memory easier to manage in the long term.
Take care
Kevin

I'm sorry to hear you were stabbed... Are you talking through this with a therapist?
I think it will help for you to talk through what happened so that you can start to process all the feelings associated with this event...
If you want to talk at all here, we are here and listening...

Thank-you for your replies..
I have tried talking, It hasn't helped, so I bit the bullet and went out for a walk, bad mistake..
I ended up having a bad panic attack which progressed to an asthma attack
I will bring it up with my therapist and see if she can help more x

...baby steps, Fiona. You made a positive move by going out for a walk, even though it might not seem to have amounted to much.
