reliable flashbacks???

Postby ivyless » Sun Oct 09, 2011 5:19 pm

I'm new to the site and have posted in a couple of other sections but thought this would be the best place to post and ask about reliable flashblacks, I have had flashbacks whilst drunk, always the same ones and always when I'm almost too drunk or am too drunk to remember. Are these reliable flashbacks of true events or likely to be false memories?? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, ivyless! Have you ever suspected that what you see in these flashbacks really happened, have you felt something strange or unsettling about it before?

I hadn't before them but I have since, and there are things which I know are 100% certain which would make them plausible.

In that case, maybe you could talk to a good psych who will help you deal with everything. Make sure it's someone who really cares about helping you and isn't doing anything weird.
You can talk about it here.

I saw my doctor monday evening and he thinks I may have PTSD or be in need of trauma therapy and has referred me on. I've posted the details of my memories/flashbacks on the sexual abuse and child abuse forums as thought that was the best place.

Ok, I think they will help you at the trauma therapy place. I've heard good things about that kind of therapy.
Good thinking, the abuse forums are good places to get support.

I have started journalling too to help get my feelings and what I do remember and know out and maybe bring the memories if they are there forward. The suppport in the abuse forums have been great as I don't really have anyone to talk to about this.
