Hmm. No.
I have had triggers from things that I had no idea linked to past traumas. One time it was a smell.
Maybe it would help if you described the flashback. Talking is always the best way to sort out triggers. IMO

I'm sorry but it is not something i can really talk about, however, maybe this will help. It was more just a feeling than a memory. Maybe it was something else. For example feeling someone hold your hand, but no one is there.

Trust yourself and your feelings. They are probably trying to tell you something and as you become ready you will understand more. Keep posting we are listening.

I am in my 30's and whatever I can't remember, most of my childhood, I guess I don't need to remember. Right?

Actually, I think I'd rather stay drugged up than go through that. So maybe I need to stop therapy or get someone else. There is a low feeling and then a dirt feeling. I just don't want to be there.

Sometimes it takes time to remember but things may come out when you get triggered. I am in my 30s too and am remembering things gradually due to therapy triggering stuff.

Well the process of therapy and remembering is painful but I am starting to come out the otherside with a better understanding of myself and I care and nurture myself much more. I would say working on your past is tough but if you stick with it, it is worth it.

Is it worth it? To go there and go deep and pat it? Oh yes.
But you need a Therapist to help hun. What ever is in that closet, you already survived it. What you Feel is the memory. The sensations are from long ago and cannot hurt you now.
Your old memories are locked in a way. Lock by the age you may have been when you originally felt and lived those times. Thats what you are feeling. The old. Not the now. The idea behind therapy is to face the old with that old you with the new. Then the pain goes away and you gain closure.
Keep talking. I have been where you are. I can help and others can too.
With care,

It's possible that what you and the o.p. are experiencung are flashbacks from a couple different sources.
1... The imagery and memories may seem innocuous and unrelated to the trauma... but in reality might hold an indirect or symbolic relevance to your trouble. remember that the subconscious doesn't work by logic... but by symbolism and representative connections. Inbthis case. the hallucinatory effect could be a flashback in the form of an unrecognized trigger .... and in the form of a dwaking dream.

2. The other possibilitybis that the imagery has nothing at all to do with the trauma... and is just the minds way of self defensively avoiding the memory that some real life trigger has brought up.

I've often wondered about that. They seem to pop up at times when my body is physiologically telling me something's going on, but my logic doesn't back up the presence of a threat.
Blame it on me, but know that I won't regret one iota.
