nightmares

Postby owly » Wed Jul 11, 2007 2:46 pm

well... new here.

just been having horrible nightmares...

last night i dreamed about screaming... "mum, please don't... i want to leave... nooo!"

i'm pretty beside myself today.

suffered emotional abuse, neglect and vicarious sexual abuse.... ran away at 13 and never went back.

can anyone relate to this?

owly,

Absolutely Relate. I have horrible nightmares EVERY night, so half of me is hypervigilant and cant sleep-dont want to sleep because of the nightmares, which for me , made me very unstable and after 3 months of this cycle I broke.

my psych had no idea, I tried to explain how bad it was, and finally he understood. There is only ONE med that can make not remember the dreams/nightmares.

It is call Periactin name brand. They use it in VA Hospital's and if you take regular it will help. You will still have the nightmare, but you wont remember them. So they dont upset you.

My sister and I both take it now. It works for her as well. except double dose for her 8 mg to my 4 mg.

I know you feel like you are in the biggest , deepest craphole that you will never get out of. But you can get it stable. I have tried meds, off meds and had to go back on all the meds. I have severe startle reaction. at least i did.

so know that your ptsd can be kept stable and it wont run you life.
I promise.

no worries

but i don't feel like i can get on with my life. i feel like everything has come to a crunch halt... and i feel like such a looser that it's because of nightmares.... is it because of nightmares...? i feel like the world is crumbling down around me.
