Recently, some things relating to this forum came to light in a therapy session. I was going over my story. My T told me I wasn't ready to deal with it yet.
I've experienced ptsd symptoms for a large portion of my life and never realized it. Without any triggers, could anyone offer advice or useful methods to prepare myself to handle the coming emotional stress of dealing with this?

I don't know what you'd personally find useful but I know many people with PTSD find mindfulness techniques really helpful when they've been triggered..
definitely worth a try - can your therapist teach you some of this.?
Or.. maybe some tapping..
basically.. any decent grounding technique can be really helpful to you.. I know when i use tapping or mindfulness.. or a combination of both, I can stay in and come back to the present easier.
xx
Shine me a light up
and i'll run round the moon..

I am in a really abusive situation right now. I can't think of a way to get safe from my abusers.
I know that if I can get away from them, the first thing I want to do is to string together as many good memories and experiences that I possibly can. I think they call this 'cognitive therapy'. I would like to go to a lake and hang out for an afternoon. Have lunch with somebody who is honest and trustworthy. Try to read a good book without having flashbacks. Enjoy a good movie. Maybe go to a dog park and just look at the joy they have enjoying nature.
I empathize with you.. Hang in there. Please try to enjoy the simplest things like eating a good meal, appreciate that you have shelter. Good luck.
