OK, so I was involved in a bicycle vs. motor vehicle accident on Tuesday. I ran into a car with my bike. Ended up being transported by ambulance to the E.R. thankfully all I ended up with were bruises and a mildly sprained wrist (even though I think it's a mild fracture that didn't show up on the x-rays the day of the accident (I heard wrist fractures sometimes don't become visible for 48 hours after they happen)). Anyways, I've been having dreams about being in accidents and what not the last few nights, since the accident happened. It's been almost a week since the accident and I'm still having dreams about being in accidents. Is this normal after you've been in an accident of this sort?

Yes it is hon... If it was traumatic for you, it can develop into PTSD.

The accident was one of the scariest things that's happened to me in my life. It's getting really bad. Some nights I'm afraid to even go to sleep because I'm so freaked out that I'm going to end up dreaming about it over and over again. AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! I hate this. I pray it isn't turning into PTSD, I don't know what I'd do if it is. OMG.... it can't..... it just can't.... NOOO!!!!!!!!

I was in a car accident years ago.
My friend was driving, we were going down to our boats.
She didn't judge the distance of a car coming and started to go through the intersection, the car hit us we swung around and hit another car. My face bounced off the passenger seat and I hurt my lip, my whole body hurt. We couldn't get the side doors open so I had to crawl in the front and let myself out.
For a good year or so whenever I went through those stop signs I had to close my eyes because I'd get a panic attack and remember the accident.
After our accident they put big 4 way stop signs in.
That did go away, I think because it's still so fresh in your mind it's causing this.
Is there someone you can talk to ?

I'm going to talk to Todd and Angela (my youth choir directors) tomorrow. I'm going to bring that up when I talk to them. The dreams are getting worse. They are starting to get more vivid and even end up going through several steps.. bike accident, car accidents I've been in, and then my aunt's accident that killed her in 2003. I can't tell my dad though. He wouldn't ever believe me. Oh well.
I'm gonna get going.

OK, so the dreams are slowly going away and being replaced with happier dreams and I'm finally able to go out bike riding again. Only one problem. I had a TERRIBLE dream Tuesday, the worst dream I've had in a LONG time. It involved me little sister and her dad (They had been up on Monday for the day and were going home Tuesday some time). Well, I dreamed that on their way home on Tuesday they were in a really bad car accident that left my little sister dead. *sighs* I don't know if that was partly because of the accident and partly because I don't trust my sister's dad because of what he put me and my mom through when he was living with us when I was little or what it was... but it freaked me out and I'm thinking it had something to do with my accident. *sighs* I don't know anymore.

Aww Jamie, dreams can be scary hon, but the fact that they were starting to get better is a good sign, even if one pops in once in awhile doesn't always mean that they will come nightly, hang in there hon. Try to keep yourself busy before you go to sleep, hang in there. <3

Thanks,
I just don't know. I'm still scared to go to sleep at night. I still don't trust that the dreams will leave me alone. I just don't know. I try to relax and keep myself distracted before it's time for bed, but it doesn't always work for me. I just don't know anymore. I'm so lost and confused and everything. I keep having to explain what happened and that isn't making it any easier on me. Oh well.
