Architects of Destiny

Postby Wham Bam Thank You Mam » Tue Jan 31, 2006 3:15 am

The monotony of the day,
Is all too easy to explain…
You live your life,
Year after year,
And little is exactly as it appears.
You give your time to a variety of situations,
And you read your prescribed lines as if it were your given vocation.
Variety doesn’t come cheap,
There is a little hammer,
With which to break the wall,
There is a tiny vault,
With which to make the leap.
Mediocrity rears its ugly head,
Melancholy can be enough to make you wish you were dead,
You listen to all of the words which were ever said,
And still it is evident that you will slave away ‘till the end.
Knowledge is as deep a pool as any vast ocean,
And all of us are just some wreckage, floating about as flotsam.
Luck is blind as to who it manages to find,
We slave away chipping at the wall, waiting for the sign,
When we have managed to break through to the other side,
I will try to describe exactly what it is you will find:
A void,
A people lacking in sang-froid,
Panic,
Manic,
Scattering to be employed,
No use,
Obtuse,
The race to tell a story,
The horror,
The bore,
The hydra of finding the shore.
This was behind my wall,
Chip away at yours,
I am sure you will find exactly what lies behind,
And find out what’s in store.
After all,
Each of us is an architect of destiny,
Building a testament to our own complexity,
A foundation found by our own tenacity,
Finding ourselves in the wake of voracity.

Nicely done. I feel as if a therapist just socked it to me. You know, that point of realization? Excellent work, thank you for sharing it.

No problem. My pleasure. Yeah, I kind of had an epiphany while I was starting a poem and it kind of turned into this. :D
