It's only a child's dream

Postby kferrell » Sat Jun 04, 2005 2:36 am

The evening has come brining with it the silence and the surreal. A light warm breeze blowing the leaves on the trees in a graceful dance. The fireflies shine their tiny lights against the darkness of sky in a rhythm they alone understand.

She sits there alone against one of the trees watching all that is around her. She hears the quietness of the night and the stillness of the world around her that brings a peace to her soul.

Each night she sits there feeling safe in the warmth of the night air as the crickets sing their hypnotic songs. She closes her eyes and dreams of a world where one no longer hides.

To feel the warmth of another embracing her with the comfort and gentleness almost forgotten. The slow rhythmic beat of a heart as she lays her head near. The darkness all but a dream as the feeling of being alive glows from within as a bright light, bringing her to the place she has longed to be.

To feel the sound of ones own laughter no longer a stranger to her ears. The joy of capturing lost childhood adventures and the excitement they bring near.

Her step is strong and her stance is straight, no longer meek nor curled for protection. Her eyes light up her face from the joy deep within, but the moment soon fades.

She opens her eyes and stretches her arms as sadness grabs at her heart.

One tiny tear falls from her eye as she realizes her world was inside...
