I'm all I've left undone

Postby NietzscheWisdom* » Fri Jun 03, 2005 7:18 pm

hey! ever listen to the band Submersed...well, they've got this one song "hollow" and these are some of its lyrics>

"you can make me scream internally"
"you can make me breath eternally"
a world abandoned by its creator, a universe in chaos, this wasteland, this killingfield, an eternity of. rotten despair..

Element, no I can not explain my poem for you. It is up to the reader to interpret a poem not for the poet to explain.
NietzscheWisdom*, sorry but I haven't heard of the band Submersed.

Readers always have their interpretation....but the author set the vision/intent of the poem. You must have had a vision when you wrote this....but if you don't care to explain...that's your choice too. Personally I hate when readers read my work and try to say what, I, as the author was thinking when I wrote the poem. Most always they are way off course.

I agree totally Angel. It is sometimes funny just how wrong people can get it, which is partly why I do not explain my work.
I once studied photography, and we were given an asignment to produce a series of abstracts. I was the only one in the class who refused to explain my work. When I explained that any information on what the photos were of would turn them into pictures of something rather than abstracts the teacher agreed and gave me an A.
This really annoyed the rest of the class who had all explained their work and subsequently lost marks because of me.

whatever. I think I know what it means anyway!! I just wanted to make sure. But because you don't care if I interpret it wrong, I guess it doesnt' matter.

Element, there is no right or wrong interpretation. I am glad that you found meaning in the poem though.
It is not that I do not care if you make the "correct" interpretation or not, I just don't think that it matters if your interpretation is the same as mine.
Angel, if we all said nothing in case we sounded like morons the world would be a very quiet place :D .
