I agree with NietzscheWisdom. Anyway poetry is all about honestly expressing yourself and commenting on poetry should be just as honest.
Sometimes being nice is being dishonest.
My opinion of the poem; okay but too whiney.

And my opinion is that it's beautiful. Maybe if we walked in his shoes for a week, it'd really change your view on this poem. And maybe not.

NietzscheWisdom* never expressed her opinion about the poem. She expressed her opinion about me, and it was wrong, but I'm not going to get into any more arguements right now. i just wanted to point that out. So, to make sure you know, I'm not tring to start an arguement, I'm simply expressing my opinion.

See ya later.

Element, if I walked a week in his shoes I could be 250 miles away and he'd have no shoes. How would that change my view of his poem?
Why do you think I should change my view anyway?

I think you are misunderstanding element. Doesn't sound to me like she says you SHOULD change your view....I just get the sense that sense she supports TM and his poetry...that she feels maybe you didn't give it a fair chance and that perhaps if you tried to view it more from his perspective...you MIGHT see it another way. Doesn't sound like she's saying you SHOULD change your mind...just that perhaps you could read it again from another perspective and see if you feel the same way. Why is that so wrong?

And in this type of environment....well for starters....your critisism of the poem is not constructive. Honesty is one thing...but flat out putting someone's work down just because it doesn't suit your style is another! I agree....you don't have to like what TM wrote...but then say just that...why trash it in the process? ...make a person feel like $#%^ over it? You can say you don't care for a person's work w/out destroying what they set out to do. Again..especially in an environment where the mood is supposed to be all about supporting each other...I don't get why someone would log on just say gee...that sucked! (and no..not trying to quote you word per word...obviously)

Angel please do not patronise me! I knew exactly what Element meant.
My opinion of the poem was just that, an opinion. If people want to see it as criticism fine, but it stil remains my opnion.

Angel ws pretty much right.

I'm not asking you to change your opinion. I'm saying that maybe you'd come up with a better choice of words to tell him that you don't like his poem. Maybe you would understand why he felt the way that he did when he wrote this. I agree with Angel that you're criticism wasn't constructive criticism. There's nothing wrong with not liking the poem. Everyone is different, and you can't expect everyone to like the same thing. But if you thought it was whiney, why did you have to say that? He didn't ask what you thought of it, and by saying that, you didn't help anyone. Please keep in mind that I'm not mad right now. Sometimes, when talking on the internet, it's hard to get my point across, so I'm sorry if any of this sounds "angry" or whatever.

Talk to you later.

What did Angel do wrong??

I'm not patronizing you. You asked why Element feels you should change your mind on the poem....I didn't feel she was asking you to do that. Simple as that. If you take that as patronizing...whatever...not worth my time to argue w/ you and it appears that is all you want....I tire quickly of people that ONLY log on to sites like this to stir up arguments and put people down. Never have anything to offer...never want to show support...mainly just want to see if they can cut someone's opinion down. Grow up a little.

and by the way....I don't argue that your opinion is your opinion....but like I pointed out...twice now....why bother to log on just to voice an opinion that cuts someone down?

I've read a good many poems since I've been at this site...which is quite a while. Some of the poems I liked and could identify with and others I did not care for. Regarding the one's I liked I come out and say so. If I don't like the poem or can't relate to it I keep my mouth shut...so to speak.

Many of the people who post at these forums are hurting...some severely. The last thing I want to do is to make them hurt even worse. It costs me nothing to keep my opinion to myself....it can cost a writer of poetry much pain to be criticized. That's is not the purpose of these forums. We are here to help....support....build up...not tear down.

"A PLACE IN THE DIRT"

Postby NietzscheWisdom* » Sat Jun 04, 2005 2:05 am

don't have a cow now ... gawd what do we say that leave you guys dumbfounded ALL THE TIME? you freak out about the littlest comments..I'm sure Tortured-Mind has a "grown up" enough state of mind if he's been a writer for so long to learn to-
a world abandoned by its creator, a universe in chaos, this wasteland, this killingfield, an eternity of. rotten despair..
