A few of my poems

MIGRAINE

A deafening roar
bleeds
through pulsing ears
as the pounding orchestra
pierces utter darkness
of an uncontrolled thought pattern.
Tendons ache,
muscles pull,
polarizing the shattered fragments
of sanity
in its finest moment.
Escape holds no bars
with a missing key
floating
into the promising atmosphere
of an empty shell
deceived by glowing letters
surrounding
the disappointing echo
of defeat.

FOREVER WHEREVER

Darkness circles above my swollen head;
Swirls of red, blue, yellow and green
collide
until the sound of orange waves
crashing upon purple sands
of time
awakens insanity buried
beneath
collections of painful memories
to embrace a broken bond
as it collapses
into the eternal pit
of regret.
Days pass
from freedom
into burdens and responsibilities,
until the weakness
consuming a free spirit
denies the truth
of what life has become
and snaps the neck of those
daring to speak the truth
of an unwanted
reality.

FREEDOM

The morning song of a dew-laden field
awakens the soul
of a misled mother
with unresolved issues dragging her emotions
through the mud-soaked grass growing
beside the bubbling waters
of a glassy lake
with shallow shores
and sands of pale new thoughts
consuming her blood-soaked dreams
in the bright sunlight.
Sundress swirling around her sunburned knees,
she kicks off canvas sandals
to dance barefoot through a valley
of daisies with glittering tears
pouring over rosy red cheeks
to form a crystallized puddle of perplexity
around freshly-painted toenails
and vanilla scented feet
free of burdens consuming her heart
enclosed within a tin box
that’s missing the key.
