The Beautiful ones

We hold the dark times more delicately because they seem to drive the beauty we feel inside. For whatever reason the world becomes vibrant even though we remember its not so all the time. Its as if everyone but you has the secret ingredient for happiness. But then we look at ourselves more closely. We see what others have disregarded and then became envious of. We are different. We are the dreamers. We are the undefined promise that the world is not simply the sum of all its parts, but a place where these misunderstood create a parallel dimension, and nothing and nobody can curtail the passion of those who have set their minds on redefining what is normal. If we have not lived a life on the edge of insanity for periods of time than we have not explored what it really means to be human. If we have not suffered sublimely in the light of others eyes, who cannot see that it has transformed us into something more than what the world had asked of us, than we have not lived wholly under the sun and beneath the stars. And if we have done all of these things, and we are still young in spirit, than we will have won. We will have become the beautiful ones. We will have become the truth and the strength. The risk-takers. Because nothing again shall catch us unaware and without the compassion to see those who have not come full circle. Because we are the ones who love hard and never forget our angels. We build our cause around our pain. We hug those who require it. And we circle this finite and gracious earth with peace, because we have survived the battle.

So I met this young woman from across the country who is an incredibly talented artist and writer. She has been through some hard times, and has found strength within herself to carry forward and follow her dreams. She made me consider starting a magazine for those of us who carry a screaming voice. Anyway, she inspired me to write this, and I hope she finds the passion and love she deserves.
