Safe place to post poetry?

Postby SapphireSin » Sat Apr 06, 2013 5:31 am

Hey everyone,
I'm not really an avid and consistent poet, but I do find a sense of fulfillment in writing poetry, even though the moment is quite rare for that to happen.
I sometimes want to share some of my poetry, or even just get feedback and criticism.
There were a few occasions when I'd ask for opinions on a poem or two on Y!A. I quickly realized to stop that, after accidentally searching for a few of my stanzas in google search-revealing a person who stole and posted the poem elsewhere (ended up being published in a profitable online journal/magazine under someone else's name).
With fear of theft and similar such things in mind, does anyone have an idea of a good online community, site, or forum for posting poetry?
My work means a lot to me and I want to make sure it's safe and appreciated, respected and under lawful copyright.
I would post it on here, but this site is dedicated to Psychology and Mental Health, and my poetry isn't even necessarily related to any of that, and I'd much prefer other poets/writers to critique my work.
I've thought of simply creating my own blog, or such, but since I write very inconsistently, I don't think that's too good of an idea.

Any ideas and responses are very much appreciated :)
Thanks!
she believed she could, so she did

Just a thought but you may be able to get some reompense for the stolen pieces of work. If you wrote them on your computer the date and time of writing will be imbedded on the harddrive. You could try complainiing to the journal stating that your work was plagarised and that you have the original copies. If the so called "author" of your pieces cannot provide evidence that these pieces they stole from you predated your work then you have a strong case.

That's awful, your creativity should be rewarded. Complain to the journal definitely.
