A poem

Postby littleRed20 » Sun Mar 24, 2013 3:11 am

I read once upon a time ago. By a person called AgentSilent on Deviantart. I thought it was nice and I identified with it.

My mind moves in more than one place,
I dream of long journeys constantly.
My soul cannot find a place of rest, peaceful sanctuary:
It roams about wading through mud, ice, and grime.
I cannot fathom its destination, however much I may try.
I know of this, though:
Always, it travels through land, sea, and air, --
(Not much to know, I know, but I desist)
Stopping at last where the sea at night weeps,
Where its waves break openly, clinging to frigid beach,
That is where I am:
My back against the cold, damp sand,
My feet against the fading east.
I watch the bright stars shining,
The howling wind, the roaring sea, --
The beat of my heart extending to my ears,
Drowning out the steady rumbling
Of my car stalled beyond the grassy knoll,
Among rust and rubber, tires and tin, --

Out here, alone;
The sand-fleas keeping company,
I feel a weightless change, a subtle movement within me, --
Fingering a fragile shell,
I stand up to leave,
Letting the shell roll down my sleeve.
Believe me this:
My mind moves in more than one place,
I dream of long journeys constantly.
My soul cannot find a place of rest, peaceful sanctuary:
I cannot fathom its destination, however much I may try.
Though, I know of this:
I believe I'll return again,
Where the sea at night weeps,
Where its waves break openly, clinging to frigid beach.
