Sleep schedule is all messed up

Postby Tyler » Wed Jan 14, 2015 9:32 pm

So it was nice the past few days before today. Go to bed at around 1:30-2:00 am, wake up at around 10:30-11:30 that morning, and go on about my day. Today though, holy poop, I couldn't get to sleep. I took me sedating medicine, and I stay sat there, wide awake, and I crawled into bed and was there for a long time. I don't know what time I got to sleep, but when I woke up, it was 3:45 in the afternoon. How do I fix this?
Email me if you want some desserts

Hey Tyler

I think there are some things to think about. Firstly is there a risk that you have an elevated mood at all? If so this could be causing problems sleeping. Then there are lifestyle things to think about - caffeine for example and whether you are physically tired when you go to bed. Depending on what your sedating med is too it might be losing its efficacy - for example benzos lose their efficacy if used for a long time as ppl become tolerant of their effects and require higher doses to get the same effect. Some meds dont do this but it is worth considering whether you need a med review. then there are other aspects of good sleep hygiene such as making sure your bedroom is a nice environment and restful and conducive to sleep.

Hope you get some shut eye soon

I know what you mean about a messed up sleep schedule. I am schizoaffective. And I always go to bed between 11:00 and 12:00 midnight. And I always wake up around 4:00 am. Do not ask me why. For the life of me, I do not know. I take advantage of that time though by getting up at 4:00 am and praying. Then I eat an early breakfast and take my meds, (which knock me out by 7:00 am), and then I go back to sleep and wake up around 12:30 pm. My whole morning is shot. But, I always get my 9 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period. For that, I'm grateful. I'm also grateful that I don't have to work a job. I would never be able to work or have a life with my sleep schedule, that's for sure.
