Hello, I have several questions I am confused about and as I did not want to create multiple threads, I will list them below. Thank you for reading and I hope you can help clear things up a bit.
1. What is Explosive personality disorder? It is listed in the ICD-9, but apparently it has been folded into Emotionally unstable personality disorder for the ICD-10. It would make sense if the Impulsive subtype were the criteriae for EPD, but I have read somewhere else how EPD is an impulse-control disorder and the criteria they listed were of Intermittent explosive disorder. Intermittent explosive disorder is already under a separate listing in the ICD-9, and even if they are the same disorder, then why did they subsume EPD under EUPD?
The source I read was here: http://www.mdguidelines.com/explosive-p ... y-disorder
It does use the EPD code of 301.3, but I swear I once saw EPD listed as the impulsive type of the ICD-10 EUPD. Assuming the source I cited is correct, then why would they list the same disorder twice in the same diagnostic manual and place them under different categories?
2. Affective personality disorder, would later form the criteria for Cyclothymic disorder in the ICD-10, but what was their reasoning for Cyclothymia to be listed as a PD in the ICD-9? Also worth mentioning is the apparent overlap between the DSM-II's Cyclothymic personality disorder and the eventual Borderline personality disorder. Is the basis for BPD the same for Cyclothymia? Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borderline ... er#History
3. What was "Schizoid disorder of childhood" listed under? It was essentially the DSM-III predecessor to Asperger's syndrome, except modeled after SPD. In Tony Attwood's AS book, SPD is mentioned as having the same basis as AS.
4. What are the "Other specific PDs" in the ICD-10? Link: http://apps.who.int/classifications/app ... 0.htm+f608
There is no description for them and are virtually never mentioned.
5. If the DSM-V eliminates the PDs they decide to delist, will the ICD retain them?
