Firstly at no point have you considered the thoughts/feelings of the child feeling grosed out, feeling unsafe, or having uncomfortable flash backs. These are the most vulnerable children without parents to look out for them and disabled. Secondly it is homophobic to assume you may be gay. Gay people are rarely paedophiles and thirdly do not justify your lurid behaviour by a mental health label. In the uk we do not have to pay psychiastrists therefore we do not get told what e want to hear. Try not to test out your concerns on other children by sitting them on your lap. Stay focused on getting better because your thoughts and behaviour have implications for innocent children.

@Lucy 123

Please, please do not comment on things unless you are well-versed in the disorder. OCD is made up of ego-dystonic thoughts that are totally in opposition to the person's true character. I am in the UK and my therapists have told me this is very common with OCD patients and certainly not on the same level as active sexual abuse, quite the opposite. 'Lurid behaviour'? POCD is not related to paedophilia and compulsions to check are often uncontrollable. Many people hold their children, or cuddle them or mentally check for arousal while they are sitting on their laps as a means of desperately trying to prove their irrational fears false. Unless you have experienced this feeling of horror and utter terror, with your brain constantly telling you you are things you are not, then do not comment. No one can read people's thoughts, so no child is going to be harmed by such 'behaviour' unless it is sexual in nature (sexual touching etc). That is absurd and a typical reaction from knee-jerk hysterical daily-mail readers, and causes the mass hysteria we now have today which ultimately harms victims more than helps them. My psychiatrist told me these type of reactions are common with people who know nothing about OCD, but it still infuriates me. Your comments, to a terrified and vulnerable person such as the OP, could easily push someone over the edge.
Wow. Just wow.
