So basically, I know someone who might be considered a pedophile. To be clear, he does not view illegal content or actually abuse real children. He has urges though for young kids, is this something that he needs to get help? Thank you for your time

Yes this is something that he really needs to speak to a therapist about otherwise there is a chance in the future he may do something to act on those urges.
There are therapists around who are specialised in dealing with those sorts of urges,
the sooner the person gets help the more chance there is that they will not go on to abuse.

Well its kind of hard for me to get help, if I started to have regular visits to a psychologist people would ask questions. Are you sure help is needed?

Yes help is 100 percent needed. You don't have to tell anyone why you are seeing a therapist or even that you are at all. The therapist will keep what you say confidential (unless you tell them you have actually harmed a child.
I hope you get help soon. I was abused and its hurt me a lot.

Tell them you feel depressed or have disturbing thoughts that you find hard to talk about. You will need to get some help eventually to stop yourself going on to abuse and once you hurt a child you can never take that back.

Welcome Kon,
I have moved your thread to the Paraphilias forum. Maybe some of the members here can give you some advice or share their experiences of finding a therapist.
I think you should seek help; it can be very difficult to deal with these kinds of thoughts and worries on your own. If you don't want your family to know, is there a school counsellor you can see during school hours?
No diagnosis, lots of opinions, and a bunch of issues that I haven't quite figured out.

I don't recommend going to your school counselor, I've heard secondhand of bad experiences; they're not really confidential and they will 100% guaranteed have no idea what the ###$ you're talking about. If you'd like to talk with a therapist, I recommend figuring out some other reason first to build a relationship and feel it out that way. Some would break confidentiality, some wouldn't. Some will also communicate with your parents more than others, just generally. It's really hard to get a therapist for these kinds of things, particularly when you're a kid.
As to whether or not you need therapy, I dunno. It's kind of a personal question. No therapy will change what you're attracted to though.

Who knows how therapy could help you, Kon, maybe it would put you on a path of self-discovery and you wouldn't have anything to worry about any more. Yah, it definitely should be someone who wouldn't break your confidence.

Hi and welcome!
I think you are way too young AND impressionable to be exposed to "therapy".
I think that you should DEFINITELY NOT begin your teenage years by identifying yourself as "a person with sexual problems".
