Yes I included a long quotation from that article, which included the section you quote, in my original post. I didn't include a link because links require moderator approval now. You're correct that mere possession does not constitute a crime, but of course most people acquire these images via the internet, which could make it a crime.

The word used is: Proven.
It appears that some or all of these types of images are illegal in the US. The Supreme Court no longer holds this to be protected speech.
All of the above is wrong.

Of course it has to be proven, just like with any other crime.

Yes, it is wrong, which is why I corrected it in a subsequent post.

Except it is completely unlike
any other "crime".
Can you think of why this is?

I'm tired of arguing. I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be disagreeing with you on. If your goal was to win the argument, I forfeit.

Yeah, I don't think that I can really say why this is so different to prove, without kind-of going into how-to-not-get-caught-doing-something-illegal.
And I think that doesn't quite belong here.
Suffice to say then, not many people have been sentenced for anything remotely resembling breaking this weird law, on its own (because unlike other things, this one is kind of hard to prove).
