How I feel

Postby mko » Tue Jun 21, 2011 2:11 pm

For a longtime now I have had very strong sexual feelings towards my mother and sisters. Do others have these urges, is it normal? Well I guess its not normal really but wondered how common this was.

Apologies no idea how this post ended up in this forum topic. I'm just to new at this and quite confused.

Hi,

I think that your thread deserve to stay in this forum. A paraphilia is a sexual attraction to anything that is not 'normal', for want of a better word. It certainly isn't common for people to linger on sexual thoughts of their own sister or mother. I think it's immportant to think about when these thoughts first came to you - do you know when? More importantly, do you have an explanation as to why? Perhaps the thought just entered your head, it worried you, and then you obsessively thought about it out of a feeling of guilt. I think it's important to clear that up.

I'm also wondering if you've heard of POCD, mko? It is possible to get caught up in anxities about attraction (to relatives, to children) as part of POCD (purely obsessional OCD).

Hi mko,

I suspect a lot of people have imagined sex with a family member. I know I have. A thought in itself is not bad. I don't think you have anything to be ashamed about.

I agree with Kevin - you should talk more about the thoughts that are bothering you. Sometimes letting them out gives them less power over us. Otherwise they could be building-up in your mind, causing you to focus on them more than is necessary.

Do you have other sexual attractions/fantasies that you can think about?
No diagnosis, lots of opinions, and a bunch of issues that I haven't quite figured out.
