Help me - I AM a Pedophile

You arent a bad person. If you lived in Afghanistan you wouldnt be looked at twice for desiring a young boy.

If you are exclusive, you run into some trouble. You can't ever take any action that involves a child. If you can convince yourself it's ok, read some stories from abuse victims. What they go through is pretty awful. No matter what you do, if the relationship is discovered while the chil is still young, they will come out of it little better than someone who was violently raped. You need to be able to respect an individual's life as much as your own. Your sexual gratification is less important than someone's mental well-being.

If you feel like you might offend, seek immediate help.

Dan, paedophilia is considered a paraphilia. This is the Paraphilias forum after all.
It's true that some people molest children because they themselves were victims of sexual abuse, but that isn't normally considered what paedophilia is all about. You don't have to personally agree, but you don't need to fight every comment. You will just alienate yourself, when I think you could benefit both by giving and receiving support here.

Most people consider homosexuality an acceptable and natural sexuality. Again, you don't personally have to agree, but homophobic comments are not welcome here. Homosexual users should feel as safe and welcome here as heterosexuals users.

And I don't know what you're trying to prove by insinuating that disagreeing with the psychological nature of paedophilia is tantamount to endorsing child sex abuse. Do you really believe that everyone who doesn't exactly agree with you thinks child molestation is acceptable?

I have to say, tonight I have fully realised how hard this must be for you. I participated in a heated discussion where I attempted to promote understanding of pedophiles as opposed to the unhelpful hatred and condemnation provided by most of society. I can say that not one person shared my point of view and I found this very sad. They refused to understand pedophilia as a legitimate issue and seemed to believe that pedophiles chose to feel the way they do, which to me is close minded and illogical. I'm Marjorie by the way. I also linked to some articles in my discussion that may be of interest to you. I just find it so sad that the majority of society would rather condemn and hurl abuse than understand the issue in a way that was helpful and positive. I was glad to find a forum where it seemed people felt the same way as I do. I am not a pedophile nor have I ever had any pedophilic desires or tendencies I just wish to raise awareness of what is such a misunderstood issue. Good luck to you all.

Edit: To clarify I wish to point out that I do not condone pedophilia in anyway I simply accept that pedophiles do exist and they more often than not cannot help their desires. I still believe that if a pedophile offends they should be punished in some way but I was trying to put foward the idea that pedophilia is not a choice and pedophiles are largely dehumanised, hated and misunderstood by society in a way that is retroactive, harmful and unhelpful.

Although I'm quite content being who I am, I have to indulge myself just a little, as well. If I have to be completely honest, I'm glad I don't live near a morgue. Sometimes I do have to look at photos, or read erotica based on my um, preferences. Sigh...

Fortunately for me my sexual preference is one that is accepted by society. I can't imagine the difficulty and pain a person must go through when what they desire is illegal and/or met with misunderstanding and even hatred by society. I believe as long as you aren't hurting or exploiting anyone then you should be allowed to indulge in your sexual preference and there is nothing wrong with that. It is unfortunate that not a lot of people feel the same way as I do.

I feel an uneasy relief that there is another person that must deal with the same feelings. I read your post and I was startled the similarities between you and I. It helps to know that I am not the only one. I think that knowledge, therapy, and support are essential to overcome such a terrible compulsion. Thanks for posting.
