You have a very pessimistic outlook like myself. I agree with you that we don't really control the outcome of our lives it's just up to us to try to improve on the bleak outlook of death.

The way I see it, if God hates us, then what you say is true, but not the other way around. If one chooses to be pessimistic it does not mean God hates that person, but they'll invariably perceive it that way. I suppose you could try to compromise and be both optimistic and fatalistic.

Out of curiosity, do you think free will and fate could possibly coexist?

Could be we're reading different books, but my book sais "infront of God, every man is equal. You will be asked what you have done, you will be judged by your deeds."

So call your shots.

Perhaps all are born equal, but not all are born with equal oppurtunity.

I am not a paedophile, for example, because I enjoy it. I have no choice in the matter. (never touched a child)

If you need to be blackmailed by a God rock101, then perhaps it's you who need to look at their deeds, and what they really mean to you, cause it doesn't matter how good of a deed you do, if you're doing it for your own selfish gain.

I don't give in to my temptations because of a judgement from God. I do it so I can live with myself.

I believe in God. I believe he is not perfect. I believe he is no more inherently good or evil than you or I. I don't give him worship, nor do I allow him to control my choices in life. This quote sums up the idea of God:

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?"

-Epicurus

I've felt for a long time that God puts some people here just to make an example of them, so others can look at them and say,"at least I'm not that guy." Take pedophiles, I mean who in their right mind would want to be like that and have those impulses. I know life isn't fair and we aren't all created equal but what the ###$? The bible tells the story of Jobe who had his family killed and crops wiped out just so God could prove to satan that Jobe loved him unconditionally not just because he was blessd with more than most. Yes he did get it all back after the point was made but does that make it ok? Because we have high points in our lives like having children and the occasional fantasy come true does that make up for a lifetime of torture and impure thoughts that in most cases usually leads to our lives being ruined in some sense. Sometimes I think I only believe in God so I can blame him for making me the way i am. How could someone who's supposed to be our shepard and savior make us into monsters and deviants who are looked upon as ###$ up creeps and outcasts. Homosexuals, sadists, nechrophiliacs, and all the rest of us don't deserve to be like this. Am I the only one who feels like this? Am I crazy to believe that our possible creator could actually be no better than even the worst of us that he put on this earth?

Being a Catholic, I will answer this question:

God hates no one. He is incapable of hate.
He only loves.
He can be disappointed in our actions, but he cannot hate.
My life has just been one big round of sexual abuse, abduction, and disorders.
That's how I can look at it, but I can also choose to look at it like this: I have a family who loves me, a beautiful home, basic necessities, a steady job, good grades, and passions.

We all have good in our lives.
That's not to say though that the bad in our life doesn't count, because it does.
The goal is to not let the bad overshadow the good.
I believe that God gives us obstacles to learn from and grow stronger in our faith.
And also, He can't interfere with free will, so if someone DOES something bad to you, God does not control that.
Is he saddened by it?
Of course.
But he gives everyone the choice to make their own choices.
"I don't know who I am without you."

If God has limitations (not being able to hate or interfere with free will), then he's clearly not all-powerful, is he?

Oh, he HAS interfered with free will, when he hardened the Pharaoh's heart, which is then used as justification to slaughter all the firstborn Egyptian sons. Exodus 4.

Faith comes from within, you can't be forced or blackmailed into believing. I wasn't always religious, but as i got older some things started to make sense.

As for me you're not a pedophile, not yet anyway. Our prophet said the litle jihad is fought with swords, but the big jihad is the struggle within ourselves.

Peace be with you.

I don't think God hates us... because there isn't a God there to hate us in the first place.

Life is mysterious enough without need for an all-powerful omnipotent being assigning each one of us a destiny according to some 'plan,' (yet allotting us free will at the same time).

It is my belief we are the way we are because of genetic predisposition, lessons learned from past experiences, and limited free will.

I didn't choose to be attracted to the things that I am, but because of my limited free will, I can put forth necessary effort to achieve what I want -- be a good person, not hurt anyone, and fit in with society. Being what I am is not what will keep me from succeeding, rather it's the choices I make every step of the way. Namely the choice to look beyond my desires or not.

At best, for me, having pedophiliac tendencies is an inconvenience, and at worst it's me failing to rise above my emotions --- particularly desire. Self-control is the deciding factor... not God.

Maybe God's a sociopath and doesn't actually care what any of you do, as long as it's entertaining.
I want to live to see the destruction of this universe, and the beginning of the next.
