I get why the forum is now closing

Mainly because the people who always follow me around have finally come here sadly. The trolls and people who did wrongfully on pms I can't stand it.

Thankfully they can't follow me again.

Wow! I just saw this. Some people abused the good intentions of this forum, I guess.

I am aware that there was a depraved porn circle made up of some members from this forum which
circulated awful stories/fantasies of raping children and humiliating women which threw one member who Pmed me for help into depression, severe anxiety, insomnia and suicidal thoughts.
He did not name names though.

I was PMed by a male pedophile who wanted to exchange fantasies with me, but I said I am not a pedophile; I'm just on the forum to learn and to understand people with paraphilias, and that I have no desire whatsoever to exchange sexual fantasies with anyone. He did not bother me after that.

I feel bad for the many good people on the Paraphilias Forum who got positive support here. I will never forget some of you as I grew quite fond of you and admire the brave way many of you battle urges you never asked for. All the best!

if there really were porn circles through pm( was it real kids or nonexistent? i have to wonder) but reguardless, couldnt you ban their IP adresses from entering the site?also ban the account and email adress and make it so proxy servers are unusable. theres are ways to get around that but it sure makes it inconvinient for them ( why would you do that here? there are places all over the net especially hentai sites where if you tried hard enough you could form those kind of circles there and not here.) It really sucks that this is going away.

I'm not a Mod commando. My educated guess is by the time the Mods were alerted to this a lot of damage had already been done. Let's say people like me (not a pedophile) were targeted just to get them into trouble. If I was dumb enough to give out my e-mail address, I might have had child porn sent to me and on my computer. Would that get an innocent person in trouble? Yes? No? I dunno.

Is the exchange of graphic stories of child rape, for example, illegal? If so, that was definitely going on among more than a few members in this porn ring. From what the young man who Pmed me out of the blue told me in August, there were a lot of people involved from the Paraphilias Site. He closed his Psych Forum account, saying Psych Forums nearly ruined my life.

I must admit, after much soulsearching, I did give a Psych Forum Mod the heads up about this in September I believe. I had no names, so did not ask for any action to be taken. It was just a FYI
PM.

I'm as surprised as anyone that the Forum is being shut down.

If it's closing because of people being contacted for inappropriate reasons, then why not delete the board? Leaving it up will not resolve the problem, as evidenced by the following quote:

I'm not sure how that works. If someone doesn't report inappropriate contact, how would you know they're receiving inappropriate contact? And if you do know, then surely it's because they did report it? Well, either way, perhaps we can blame anyone who received inappropriate contact but was unwilling to report it. My suggestion still stands: a report-and-ban policy (already in place) would fix this, and if people aren't willing to report then they shouldn't really be complaining. I've certainly never experienced anything that is purported to be happening.

It still sounds like a cop-out to me. The easy excuse always centres on things to which you can have no access. And it doesn't explain what I've posted here.

Maybe they reported inappropriate contact, but wouldn't report names of offenders? ... Or were they afraid because they had gotten involved themselves, then felt guilty, so just reported through a third party?

I did receive a PM that made me uncomfortable for a moment. It was an invitation to share in fetishes. I didn't answer or record it, I simply deleted it and moved on.
I came here to find out if the things that aroused me were normal or not. I had questions about my own thinking. I guess that we all have kinks and to make the best of them. It is who we are.
Mine have never crossed into criminal activity, but they have made me do stupid things that I normally wouldn't do and placed me in dangerous and stupid situations. My being drunk made it worse as good judgement was out the window. I never did get to the Jekyll and Hyde stage.
I am sober and older today, but times of stress and tension still bring out the crazy old thinking again. I am able to manage one day at a time. It is important not to isolate oneself from the world.
I do hope that everyone here continues in the forums appropriate to other problem areas of their life as well as continue their path of recovery as we trudge this road of happy destiny together.
I would like to pass on to others what I have gained here in self-awareness over the past couple of years. Thank You.

I don't like rape and humiliation but there could have still been some nice tuff thrown my way...why is it that when things are abused I'm still never in on it, it's the people who hate it who feel the brunt?
