Any chance we can clarify what 'pro-contact' means?

Postby Graveyard76 » Mon Aug 24, 2015 6:25 pm

Someone's just asked me, and I'd like a definite answer too.

I've always assumed it's not necessarily meant to mean pro-sex with children, but I think it would be helpful if we established exactly what it does mean, and where the lines are drawn.

I've always assumed it to mean something like: "To make safe sexual contact appropriate to the level of willingness of your partner in a manner that would cause no harm." (And before a debate erupts and derails the topic, I mean the words "safe" and "cause no harm" to mean both physically AND mentally, but agree that others would disagree with that stance, so I just left it out entirely).

The stance that sex with children is not unethical in its own right.
Let's judge each other on our actions.

I don't see a way to edit my post... weird. Anyway, upon reflecting on this earlier answer, I realized that I didn't answer the question correctly. Rather, I stated what I thought "contact" meant, not so much "pro-contact". The definition of the latter I would define as:

"The position that there is a safe and healthy way in which an adult and a minor can interact together in a way that causes sexual stimulation."

You can only edit your post within about 30 minutes of submitting it, so that's what happened.

Makes it hard for us to take dumb stuff back :P so we all have to watch what we say around here.

I don't think there is one, just a a basic idea that exists in a continuum. That said, when I call myself "pro-contact", I mean that I support sexual interactions between Adults and Children provided that all parties are acting entirely on thier own free will and desire.

Edit: If you were looking for a more thoruogh description, let me know and I'll post any answers to your questions as soon as I can. Unfortunately, our PC is out of commission at the moment because SOMEONE forgot to secure their pet rabbit the other night and allowed her to chew through the power cable that connects to the monitor.

As such, all posting has to be done through my phone, and while I give much praise to our phone' s ability to serve as a portable backup computer, as a primary interface it is much slower and more cumbersome than our Desktop. So basically, give me time.

There's a huge distance between accepting yourself and your paraphilia, and actually 'supporting' sexual activity between adults and children.

I'm a bit staggered by these answers, to be honest.

...? I'm more confused about how you thought it could have meant anything else. "Pro-contact" doesn't leave much to the imagination, especially if you've seen the arguments popping up lately.

Maybe I'm too generous, Atma? I hoped it meant something along the lines of regular interaction.

So, for 'pro-contact', we should read 'pro-kid fiddling'...

Cheers for clearing that up.

"Pro-sexual-interactions-with-children" sounds better. Less confusing also.
