I'm not trying to "win." You misunderstand me. This subject means more to me than "winning" an argument. This subject has bearing on my very life and, if you are honest about it, yours as well. But since you have already made up your mind, and dug your heels in, I suppose we should let it go at that. I now see that it would have been better not to have responded to you at all. I will say, however, that you should reconsider your outlook, since it is to your own benefit to approach the matter from another perspective. Someone who is trying to point something out for your own good is not necessarily condescending. But what do I care? It is enough that you wish to move on, and so shall I...

I understand, and will endeavor to correct that. Some of my last posts "got jumbled up" because I hadn't had time enough to re-edit. But that was in my penultimate (= second to last) survey post. However, I will strive for conciseness in general henceforth.

The really curious thing is, I don't find myself wishing I hadn't had that experience. My original point was that American policies affecting sex offenders are way too restrictive and onerous to be (1) effective and (2) justified. My original point regarding the woman who killed her children for molesting their sibling is that America's treatment of sex offenders has become so arbitrary, unwieldy, and in many instances downright cruel, that the impact upon the collective consciousness has created a social environment that makes it easy and seemingly "justified" to carry out such heinous acts as hers. In a word, our system is unintentionally creating a vigilante populace in its own image.
I'm also asking people here what we as "paraphiles," or "pedophiles," et al, should do about it. Should we obsequiously say, as is the wont of some, "Oh, you're right, dear sirs, we deserve it; thank you, sir, may I have another," or should we become activists and lobby congress, inundate them with letters of protests, or the like?

I point out that US sex offender laws are not just capturing men, but boys also. For example a 10 yr old played doctors with his sister and got 5 years in prison. Two 12 yr old boys went into a bedroom, unzipped for some normal and harmless mutual exploration, got caught and were prosecuted. Both are on the register for life for "sexual activity with a child" but the register does not state that they happened to be children at the time.

One thing worth pointing out is that the sex panics and punitive sex offender laws grew alongside the rise of the political hegemony we in the west live under, namely neo-liberalism. This is a right wing agenda, all full of patriarchy and the nuclear family.
