Graveyard, while it wouldn't be okay to remove this forum, it's perfectly ok to remind that there are people here whose sole purpose is to promote political beliefs such as abolishing the age of consent and in my honest opinion, such behavior should not be tolerated. What the mod reminded is that nobody should use the forum with a political purpose.
Being this a law abiding forum, saying things so clearly against the current laws in our society (age of consent, for example) it seems pretty clear that this kind of behavior is detrimental to the entire community (especially people who come here for help because they are tempted to commit some kind of illegal act such as having sex with a minor) and to the image of the forum itself.

ElK, I'm just worried, because there really isn't another forum on the entire internet where paraphiles have the slightest chance to find a supportive, healthy environment. I know, because I tried when I got the hump and decided to move on from here.

There are bad apples here, we know that, but the good far outweighs the bad, and I don't know if certain people are unaware of what a difference this forum has made to some of us, or if they just don't care and want it gone whatever the cost to the posters here.

I understand, Graveyard, but recently the bad apples have taken "too much control" without being....controlled. I believe there should be a limit when it comes to delicate issues especially the ones involving underage kids, and there should be a limit to political discussion as it is not, I repeat, a political forum for pedophiles.
Hope my thoughts were clear.

You said healthy and supporting environment, okay, but this hasn't been the case here on this forum in these past months, because of those bad apples you talked about and some of the content they posted on here.

I always thought political discussions/arguments/debates/whatever were discouraged here, but I haven't seen moderators doing much about it lately. In the whole year I've used this forum, I don't know if I've ever seen a moderator shut down a "political" thread, even though I see those discussions all the time.

Also, in response to the people who think pedophilia is a more "legitimate" paraphilia than the others, or somehow better, you're the reason why other paraphiles feel uncomfortable here. I think you should have your own subforum, not because you're better, but so that the rest of us don't have to read your elitist crap on a regular basis.

I agree though, I don't want to see this forum go away altogether. Punishing those of us who don't use this forum as a political soapbox isn't fair. Some people do still come here for support. Punish the people who are spreading their political statements, not the rule-abiding ones.
Anyway, there are plenty of other places on the internet to debate age of consent and political stuff about pedophilia.

Maybe it's time somebody put up a purpose-built site dedicated to supporting paraphiles? There really is FA beyond this board at the moment. I'd be more than happy to set something up and see how it goes.

Idk, I can just see it turning into the same mess as we already have here.

If it does, it does. I don't think it has to.

I guess what I mean is that I think this site could still be good as a support forum, it just needs a mindset change.
Such as no more arguments about politics, or arguments about laws that aren't going to change while we argue about them here.
Taking the same kind of people and moving them to a new forum isn't going to help because they'll just go back to acting the same way as they did before. I think it should be up to us to agree to get along better and stay on topic with the original purpose of the forum.
And up to the mods as well to help make sure things stay civil and law-abiding.

Yeah, that's a good point. It would mean more variety of you wanted it.

Instead of threatening to do away with it, why not be more active in moderating what kind of conversations can be had here? Incidentally, that includes starting discussions that will inevitably draw out pro-contact opinions as well as pro-contact opinions themselves.

Ay, there's the rub. We don't have any current moderators interested in modding here, and finding suitable mod candidates is very, very difficult. To be sure, we have had a couple of excellent moderators for this forum in the past, but no one has stuck around for the long term. So if we were to do away with this section (and just to be clear, there is no concrete plan to do this at present) it would be due to a shortage of mod resources, and the feeling that we could not service our members adequately.

On the other hand, I agree 100% that our Paraphilias forum is a valuable resource for a lot of people and I can't find another place on the internet quite like it either. So any decision to do away with it would not be taken lightly, or made easily. Again, I'm not really trying to "threaten" anything here. Perhaps this can be considered a plea for stronger self-moderation and mindfulness on the part of members.
