Siamese Fever, I don't know what to do, but I do think that something should be done.

I can already see the Daily Mail headline, after they get sent a link to this thread...

In the words of Abraham Lincoln: 'there's always room for a necrophile'. I'm paraphrasing heavily.

I'd be interested to see how the papers covered the story. Perhaps they'd be too preoccupied running this story:

For those interested, here's the park's statement:

Thank you everyone for your feedback regarding our entrance policy. Please find the latest statement issued to the media this morning. We listen to our customers and would welcome all feedback. This is a family attraction and would ask all comments are made in the appropriate polite manner.

Alistair Mead Managing Director of Puxton Park, said: "The main aspect not being reported is that Puxton Park is predominantly an attraction for children aged 0 years to 7 years with 90% of the park dedicated fully to child’s play, which is not suitable for lone adults.

“Some adults may be interested in our falconry department and we offer falconry experience days which are open to all. We have not set out to discriminate against single adults but we take child protection extremely seriously.

“We would rather be over zealous when unaccompanied adults visit us armed with cameras than put children at any potential risk. Even schools follow similar policies with regards to the photography of children.

“Our members fully support our decisions and we have received nothing but praise for our policy including positive feedback from a Child Protection Specialist, who commended us for our child protection principals.

"Within seven years we have only had one complaint about this policy from the gentlemen last week.

"At the time of setting the policy the other parks within the area had a similar stance to us. I have spoken to two or three similar client based parks this morning and they still have the same policy as we do. I’m not going to name names as it’s unprofessional of me to do so.

"In light of this coverage we will look at what other parks are doing with their admissions policy, speak to our customers and review."

What kind of child safety are we talking about here? That they might end up in a photograph? How are they any less likely to end up in a photograph when single adults are not admitted? Surely all eyes will be on single blokes looking shifty with cameras, rather than the guy there with his wife taking furtive shots on his phone? They take child protection very seriously, fair enough. But I'd suggest they don't have a clear, well-thought-out concept of child protection. It seems all they're doing is giving children and adults the message that all men on their own are inevitably potential sexual predators. That's not a message conducive to their well-being.

They welcome feedback, do they?

Dear Puxton Park,

I was reading a news article about your policy of not allowing lone adults into the park, and thought that your falconry displays would be wonderful to attend with my girlfriend. We would also be interested in visiting the lovely farm shop you have.

The problem is my girlfriend is deceased. She would be happy to attend in spirit only if you are not happy with corpses being pushed around the park in wheelchairs, but I realise that non-spiritually-aware people will understandably be alarmed for their children's safety if they believe that I am walking around on my own due to my unfortunate gender.

Is there some compromise we could come to? Are any of your staff trained in mediumship, and able to verify that I am in fact accompanied by my girlfriend? If she attends physically, will I have to pay the full admission fee for her (I think the deceased should qualify for a concession. Don't you?), and will your staff be happy to help her on and off of the rides? She's very light, but I have a sod of a bad back.

Thank you for reading, and I hope to hear from you soon.

PS: I'd just like to point out that despite being a male, your female guests of all ages are quite safe from me, unless they drop dead suddenly, which hardly ever happens!

Thanks again.

You know, for all society goes on about us being the worst, most dangerous people on the planet, they sure don't seem to ever worry we might take drastic action when pushed too far.

The fact of the matter is, they know we're better people than they are, and they're exploiting that to hell and back.

If you do that, you might just get a sensationalist news article written about it.
