I'm glad I wasn't the only one who received it. I had questions as to its legitimacy. I was going to ask the group, but thought "better of it." Now I see that it was likely legit all along.

Yep I sent the questions to a few people to help with my research - I mainly picked users who had been recently active, that was all!

Huge thanks to those that responded - it has been such a big help. I have had a sudden rush of freelance work which has taken me away from the project for a while, but am hoping to pick things up asap.

I've been a long term lurker. mostly that's because my views don't mesh with those prevailing on this forum. for that reason my posts are unlikely to be approved through the moderation system of the forum and would usually only engender flames if they did sneak through. Two axioms I've lived by: "if you don't have anything positive to say remain silent." and "better to be thought a fool and remain silent then open your mouth and remove all doubt."

this questionnaire has coaxed me out from a lurkers cloak. the reasons are two fold:

one. because any "research" done here wont be valid whether done through "approved channels" or not. any research would have to be done "in the wild". otherwise selection bias will render the results skewed beyond usefulness. this is a public forum for support and therapy, so only those seeking such would be included. of those only a small subset would consider answering such a survey. off the top of my head this excludes those who don't seek support or therapy, those who have no issue with their orientation, and those who favor privacy because of society's making this orientation a deviancy worthy of persecution. (I.E. "shoot all the pedos!") so your pool is too shallow and skewed one way right from the start. no meaningful statistics or answers can be drawn by such methodology.

two. because I'd LOVE to be asked those questions in a safe way to respond honestly. even Dr. Kinsey was asking this stuff, but there has been no easy way to answer. with the problems outlined in my first point how can we know the relative size of various types of paraphiles in relation to societal norms or even with in the "community" itself? I know I'm definitely in the extreme minority of views openly expressed on this board.

so please, feel free to ask me.
