I see where you are coming from, for me it does help me in some respect because talking to others who both share and understand gives me someone to turn to and openly talk to. It certainly as a bare minimum makes me feel less alone in the world.
You know what they say, a problem shared is a problem halved, crude but its true
As for it helping in stopping/slowing my thoughts it has not helped but what it has done is help me understand that I should not be feeling as guilty as I am for the thoughts I have as it has never lead anywhere.
