Attraction to teenagers.

Hey guys, I've been worrying a lot lately about my sexuality. I've had a few fantasies in the past that involved teenagers 15/16/17+ (I'm 21)..... its not exclusive but it still worry's me, if you go any where else for answers on the internet you are considered a monster. it's not like i want to date these girls, or even actually have sex with them, i just noticed there bodies and played with fantasy for a little bit, i don't think like this anymore, but I'm still ashamed. i also have really bad OCD, so all day everyday i am constantly worrying if I'm a pedophile, or whatever. some people say its totally fine to be attracted to a 16 year old girl, others wish you go to hell.... what am i supposed to think?

As long as you don't act on it like I did and actually date a 16/ 17-year-old, I think you're morally in the clear and not a bad person. Your fantasies are your own and you aren't hurting anyone with them, only yourself. Also, throughout the vast, vast majority of the world, 16 (or before) is the age of consent. I think 18 makes sense (or if below, with strict close in age exemptions) and that dating a 16-year-old when you are 18 or above is a very bad idea... however, you've clearly stated that you would never do that.

Technically you aren't a paedophile (indeed, I'm not either) since even a 15-year-old is not pre-pubescent. The term is a medical one for attraction to pre-pubescent children. I think it is confusing that the media sexualizes some children (like Britney Spears when she was 16, or Lorde) while also decrying this sexualization as the absolute evil, but thems the breaks. The media is hypocritical, self-serving and money-grubbing.

I think, try to concentrate your fantasises on those 18 or above, but don't panic if you find yourself having occasional sexual thoughts relating to 16 or 17 year olds. They're only a few years younger than you and in a few years time you will likely no longer feel that attraction (I'm now 26 and I don't find myself attracted to anyone of that age whatsoever).

Also, you've said you don't even think like this any more so you're worrying about the past by the sounds of it.

Finally, it seems very likely that Hell doesn't exist and if it does, well, God impregnated a 13-year-old, so personally I wouldn't follow the Bible too closely when it comes to the immorality of underage sex.

thank you for the reply, ya i will be fine, i know I'm not a danger to anyone. i mean i still find some 16 year olds attractive but for there adult features....and you are right, the more i age the less they are attractive more so because i realize how young 16 really is, i remember being 16 and thinking i was practically a grown man, now at 21 i couldn't feel less like a man lol, growing up is definitely a humbling experience.

This is not a paraphilia. It is extremely normal for adult men to be attracted to girls 15 or older.

Hi strix. Attraction to adolescent girls is utterly normal, biologically valid attraction. It's right that there are age of consent laws, but they have no bearing on the validity of attraction. You are totally normal. The best advice I can give is not to worry about it.

It's actually normal but society has rules against such thoughts and demonizes even the slightest mention of it. You're not the only person in the world with feelings like that but you're one of the few that will openly admit it and it's usually the people that admit it that aren't the danger to society but the ones that hide it. You can't help who you are or what you like but you can stop yourself from partaking in such desires but I will say it isn't worth the jail time and ruin it would cause your life.

Attraction to teenagers is not pedophilia, I can assure you that. However, 15-15-17 are still underage so no action should be encouraged.
